Great news for all of the Lineberry Alliance tonight! City Council, unanimously approved the purchase of the property at Lineberry Drive and Sierra Drive (from David Martin) for the neighborhood park that we’ve been asking for!!!!!

Pat yourself on the back. But, there is still some work to do. This is some great news for us in order to move forward. The destination, walkable park that is desired for the residents here is a major step closer tonight.

More details to follow over the next few weeks. Mary Belle Pate (SWCAC Chair) and I still want to create a neighborhood vision for the Lineberry area as the most pedestrian and biker friendly neighborhood in Raleigh, with “Lineberry Park” as the center of our neighborhood, walking paths that lead to the park, and “Sharrows” for cyclists along the designated bike route (#6) on Lineberry & Sierra.

I work with other neighborhood leaders in District D alongside City Councilor Thomas Crowder, on the District D Neighborhood Alliance (DDNA). I've completed Raleigh Neighborhood College (Spring 2005) and Leadership North Carolina (May 2007). In 2009, I lead a group of neighborhood volunteers to review Raleigh's 2030 Comprehensive Plan.
