Recycle Those Phone books

February 6th, 2008 by Jason Hibbets

Message from Raleigh Recycling:

Wake County has set up its annual recycling program to coincide with the delivery of the new phone books. Please DO NOT put your old (or new!) phone books in your curbside recycling bin! The paper the phone books are made of is of such poor quality that it degrades the value of the paper products that is collected in the curbside, multi-family and drop-off programs. Phone book paper can be recycled – but not back into regular paper. Instead it is made into insulation material or sometimes animal bedding products.

Wake County Telephone Book Recycling Program
Residents and businesses can recycle unwanted telephone books February 4, 2008, until May 9, 2008, during Wake County’s Annual Telephone Book Recycling Program. The program coincides with the delivery of new telephone books from several different companies. For all locations, see their web page www.wakegov.com/recycling/residents/recycle/telephonebook.htm.
