Lineberry Alliance Projects Preamble

July 2nd, 2008 by Jason Hibbets

As I mentioned in a previous post at the beginning of June, I’ve got some really great idea’s on how to make our collective neighborhoods better. Specifically, in a pro-active manner, instead of reacting to problems. Let’s create something we can all gather around and benefit from.

Starting next week, I will outline a different project idea everyday. The basics will be to find a few ways to help gather some interest in the Lineberry Alliance and to start breaking the physical barriers of our neighborhoods. Additionally, I want to generate some conversation around these idea’s, so the hopefully they will come to fruition.

The website and mailing list are working great right now. We’ve got over 200 people on the alliance mailing list and we have many other communities looking at ours as a “model for how to rally a community” (said one person I corresponded with).

But there is nothing that can bring people together like a project, something that they can be vested in. So even though these might start as ideas from my head, they are not perfect and feedback is welcome! I’m sure that many of you will have some. I think that collectively, everyone working together, will generate a better end result.

Lastly, I’ll mention that I can’t do all this on my own. But we can start with these ideas and our community will need your support to make them happen. The hope is that there will be something that you or someone from your neighborhood can be passionate about. We should own our neighborhood. And we will.
