Current Actions
- Jason to follow-up with Mitch Silver on two items:
- What is the best way for the focus groups to get questions answered? For example, if we have a questions during our review, who do we contact / how do we contact them to get our question addressed promptly?
- What is the best way for the focus groups to provide feedback? We’ve seen that we can provide feedback through the portal, but this appears to be for individuals. What about group / consensus feedback? We know that there are other groups doing similar initiatives, and want to know hoe you are accepting “group” feedback.
- All team leads to identify reading material / sections for review over the holidays and contact teams by Dec 22. Also, team leads to set weekly schedule & milestones for January for their respective teams by Dec 22.
Strategy
- Finalize organization within the next week. Get sub-teams up-to-speed.
- Be ready to hit the ground running in January 2009.
- Teams to work on their focus, team leads to cross pollinate idea’s.
- Draft recommendations ready by Jan 23. Review recommendations the final week of January.
Knowledge Transfer / Tips & Tricks
- leverage what was in the old plan to help identify what’s missing / taken out that we like
- identify concepts / policies that are important to Raleigh
- the comp plan should be a guide and it should be discrete
- consider how the comp plan will be used for advocacy purposes in the future
- think about the plan as a strong policy document
- be forward thinking, 2030 should be progressive
- compare Raleigh to other cities, what do we not want Raleigh to be like (Atlanta, Houston) in 20 years
- consult experts in the education space and other cities with progressive policies for our focus area’s (ie Seattle for environment)
- online PDF versions can help with search (ie, searching for parks in other sections)
