If you live in Raleigh, there are two numbers you should program in your mobile phone. The pothole repair line and the signal malfunction number:

  • To report potholes, call 919-996-6446 or email pothole@ci.raleigh.nc.us
  • To report a signal malfunction, call 919-996-3020

About this time last year, we told you about repairing pothole taking longer. For the most part, Raleigh Street Maintenance can repair a pothole in the same day, but only if it’s reported. With the winter months, potholes increase in numbers due to moisture getting into road cracks, and expanded and contracting with temperature changes.

Malfunctioning traffic signals are a serious matter and are repaired relatively quickly, but again, only if reported.

In a recent article on WRAL, “Pothole problems on the road? Report it,” Trailwood Springs neighbor Chad Smith told about his experience driving around Raleigh:

Driver Chad Smith recounted two recent run-ins. A pothole popped two of the tires on his wife’s car and he “had to avoid one (pothole) this morning coming to work,” he said Monday.

I work with other neighborhood leaders in District D alongside City Councilor Thomas Crowder, on the District D Neighborhood Alliance (DDNA). I've completed Raleigh Neighborhood College (Spring 2005) and Leadership North Carolina (May 2007). In 2009, I lead a group of neighborhood volunteers to review Raleigh's 2030 Comprehensive Plan.
