Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community watch - prr-watch.orgRaleigh, NC – The Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community Watch, building a safe and informed family community, held their annual meeting on February 9, 2010. Hot topics from the meeting included updates from Captain Perry, of the Raleigh Police Department (RPD), on the recent break-ins in the Lineberry area. Thanks to some good police work and excellent reporting from the community, the break-ins have appeared to settle down recently. The meeting notes are now available on the prr-watch.org website (PDF).

Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community Watch also announced several other items from their business agenda:

  • The board of directors are looking to fill a their secretary position by the May 2010 meeting
  • A speed limit reduction petition will begin circulating on Sierra Drive and Lawrence Drive this Spring
  • Upcoming events include the 6th annual Street Sweet, quarterly meeting on May 10, 2010, and late Spring community-wide yard sale (TBA)

Only two dozen folks attended the meeting that also included security company fair with ADT, Broadview, and CPI. The cold and rainy weather probably contributed to the low turnout. After an excellent meeting of almost 100 people at the emergency community watch meeting held on January 14, 2010, we were expecting a larger crowd. Those in attendance asked excellent questions for Captain Perry and enjoyed the security system displays.

The board of directors are considering hosting a future security company fair at this year’s National Night Out and are also working on a survey to gather feedback to improve our meetings. Be on the look out for the Spring 2010 Newsletter, if you have something you’d like to contribute, you can contact the chairs using our web form.
