One of the big topics that came up during the review of Raleigh’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan was transitions–how one land use transitions to another type. An initial workshop was held in June, but this is an important topic. So big, it’s worthy of another session. See the information below on the next workshop and why you should participate.
Raleigh’s New Development Code
The City of Raleigh is in the process of updating its development regulations. The City Council has authorized a second community workshop on the topic of TRANSITIONS, to be held on September 1, from 6-8 pm at the Urban Design Center, located at 133 Fayetteville Street. The workshop will be facilitated by the project consultants from Winter and Company and Code Studio. Public participation is a necessary component to make these sessions successful. Please plan to attend.
The workshop will be fun and interactive, including actual modeling of three locations in the Raleigh area. For details, go to www.NewRaleighCode.com and open the link to the right of the webpage for the flyer. If you have questions about the workshop, sessions or the overall development code project, please contact Christine Darges in the Planning Department at 919-516-2634. Upon request, the city staff is available to attend all neighborhood and CAC meetings to provide an update.

Land use transitions occur throughout the city along major transportation corridors where non-residential and residential uses are adjacent to one another. In concert with the drafting of the City’s Unified Development Ordinance, the City is hosting a series of community workshops in order to identify the issues and address potential impacts associated with land use transitions.
