Lake Johnson Master Plan to be Amended

We previously posted about potential improvements to Athens Drive stadium and the Jaguar booster club gathering support from the public for those improvements to get on the right path. It’s no coincidence that a proposed multi-purpose facility at Lake Johnson Park is slotted for 2012 and the (some say overdue) need for stadium improvements are being brought to the forefront. The addition to Lake Johnson Park and the proposed stadium improvements seem like a win-win to me. In order for all these changes to happen, the park master plan needs to be updated.

I was excited to see the news below about the City of Raleigh approving the Lake Johnson contract to Szostak Design. You may recognize Szostak Design because of the proposed (more…)

Athens Drive High School Needs Your Help

The stadium facilities at Athens Drive High School have not been upgraded or improved since the school opened over 30 years ago.  The parking lot remains unpaved–the restroom and concession areas are small and outdated.  Handicap access to the stadium is in dire need of improvement.  Pedestrian access, seating, press box and lighting likewise need improvement.  The most serious need at the stadium is (more…)
