CITY OF RALEIGH TO OFFER LANDLORD TRAINING PROGRAM ON MAY 12

The City of Raleigh’s next landlord training class will be held on May 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Housing Authority’s multipurpose community room, 971 Harp St. The one-day course offers useful information to rental property owners and managers, real estate agents, lawyers and others who deal with or have an interest in rental issues.

The North Carolina State Bar and the N.C. Real Estate Commission offer continuing education credits for lawyers and real estate agents who take the class.

The landlord training course covers such topics as screening rental applicants, strengthening rental agreements and taking legal steps to resolve problems. (more…)

New American House project is an investment in green, sustainable community

The New American House project is a great investment opportunity and could be a marquee sustainable community for South West Raleigh. It would be a new model for green home-building in the Triangle, the State of North Carolina, and perhaps the nation. But the project is in jeopardy of not coming to fruition if it doesn’t attract enough investors.

The plan for this community is solid. The opportunity to have 12 sustainable, green homes in this area designed by 12 different designers, all from North Carolina, is unlikely to come our way again. Since I first heard about this project in 2008, I thought it was an awesome concept and a great idea. We can help by spreading the word and gathering additional support in the form of investors for the project.

Real Estate Matters in Historic Rhamkatte

On June 1, 2009, the Lineberry Alliance held a meeting to discuss real estate opportunities in our area. For reference, our area is South of I-40, West of Lake Wheeler Road, North of Tryon Road, and East of Trailwood Drive. Lineberry Drive connects almost all of our neighborhoods together. At the meeting were neighbors from Camden Crossings, Whitehurst Townhomes, Trailwood Springs, Trailwood Hills, and Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate. We were lucky to have Realtor Louise Griffin a friend from the Wade CAC join us, along with South West CAC Chair Mary Belle Pate and District D City Councilor Thomas Crowder.
