Drug Violations Considered for PROP Amendment

Back in 2008, Raleigh City Council strengthened the PROP (Probationary Rental Occupancy Permit) by adding in a variety of criminal elements that would result in a strike against the property / landlord. Those elements included: prostitution, possession of stolen goods violations of certain state alcohol and liquor regulations, unlawful weapons, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, gaming violations; and, disorderly conduct.

In October, the City Council started exploring adding drug violations to the list of criminal elements of the PROP. This would further strengthen the PROP and help ensure that landlords are getting quality tenants on their property. Raleigh Neighborhood Recognition Awards

The Raleigh Citizens Adviosry Council (RCAC) hosts an annual Neighborhood Recognition Awards ceremony. This year, the awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the McKimmon Center on Gorman Street. The evening will begin with a reception starting at 6 pm, followed by an awards ceremony at 7 pm.  The reception includes live jazz music. Friends, family, and neighbors are encouraged to share in the occasion.

Raleigh, NC–Trailwood Realty, LLC is excited to offer a new pricing structure. I am now offering my services for 6% of the monthly rental rate with a one half month fee for finding a renter, including a listing in the MLS.

This is a start-up property management company, and I want to earn your business! I am the owner, Dawn Brenengen, and I am excited to be starting this new venture. I have been in real estate for many years, and I have been managing my own rental properties in Raleigh for six years. Landlord Training Slotted for May 12

CITY OF RALEIGH TO OFFER LANDLORD TRAINING PROGRAM ON MAY 12

The City of Raleigh’s next landlord training class will be held on May 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Housing Authority’s multipurpose community room, 971 Harp St. The one-day course offers useful information to rental property owners and managers, real estate agents, lawyers and others who deal with or have an interest in rental issues.

The North Carolina State Bar and the N.C. Real Estate Commission offer continuing education credits for lawyers and real estate agents who take the class.

The landlord training course covers such topics as screening rental applicants, strengthening rental agreements and taking legal steps to resolve problems. (more…)
