Front Yard Parking Making Tracks in Comp Planning

Text Change TC-7-09, Front Yard Parking (FYP) for single family detached dwellings is on the Comprehensive Planning Committee agenda this week. The meeting is on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm in Room 201, City Council Chambers, at 222 West Hargett Street.

The latest issue being looked at is how homes fronting on thoroughfare roads might be impacted. Planning Director Mitch Silver brought up this topic at last month’s meeting. This will probably be the bulk of the talk at this meeting. Past meetings that I’ve attended have seen support from citizens around the city, with only a few people speaking in opposition to the text change. My opinion is that most citizens would support this text change to improve quality of life issues in their neighborhoods. (more…)

Text Change TC-3-10 Approved, Pedestrian Access

The following information provided by the City of Raleigh

Text change TC-3-10 has been approved.  TC-3-10 rewrites City Code Section 10-2091, Pedestrian Access.  The regulations update the City’s Zoning Code to comply with the recently adopted NC State Building Code legislation on ADA accessibility; and incorporates several recommended policies found in the Land Use, Environmental and Transportation Elements of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan.

DDNA Meeting Notes from July 2009

District D Neighborhood Alliance (DDNA) meeting (Raleigh, NC) — Over 20 citizens from around District D attended the monthly District D Neighborhood Alliance (DDNA) meeting on the morning of Saturday July 18, 2009. The group, lead by Councilor Thomas Crowder (District D), meets on the third Saturday of each month to discuss issues in our neighborhoods and matters from City Council that impact our neighborhoods. On this months agenda, 2030 Comprehensive Plan Draft update, text changes (including Front Year Parking), and neighborhood concerns. (more…)
